What is the degree program about?
The aim of the Master’s program in Textual Studies and Digital Transformation is to penetrate the system of written and reading media more deeply and to understand its complexity by analyzing written and reading media in the context of digital media cultures and integrated into complex interconnections with economic, social, and technological developments. Students can demonstrate their analytical and practical skills within the framework of a one-semester project and create their individual profile on the basis of the free elective area.

With a Master’s degree in Textual Studies and Digital Transformation, you are qualified for general and management positions in the (written) media industry in areas such as STM (scientific, technical and medical) publishing, general interest publishing, special interest publishing or literary publishing as well as in production and marketing companies associated with them. You are also suitable for management positions in wholesale and trade in the book and media industry. That apart, you are qualified for any tasks concerning the analysis of written media. You may also choose to start a doctoral degree after completing your Master’s.

Students with a subject-specific degree in a social science or humanities subject related to media communication, especially in the fields of book studies, media studies and communication studies are admitted to the program.
Subject-related disciplines that have at least 40 ECTS credits relating to media and/or media-based communication processes are also accepted.
Students with a subject-specific degree whose overall grade is between 2.51 and 3.0 AND students with a subject-related degree whose overall grade is between 1.0 and 3.0 must include a letter of application of 2-3 pages in length with their application documents.
