Innovative degree programs
FAU offers over 270 innovative and future-oriented degree programs that meet the requirements of the modern labor market and provide students with valuable knowledge and skills. Many degree programs can be studied without admission restrictions.
No tuition fees!
FAU is a public university and does not charge tuition fees. It receives state funding in order to maintain the high standard of German higher education. However, all students must pay a semester contribution each semester if they wish to remain enrolled at FAU. The semester contribution is around 70 euros per semester.

Free German courses
We provide you with free German classes alongside your regular studies to get you up to speed. Find out more about placement tests and German courses. You have no or little prior knowledge of German? Contact our Language Centre (Sprachenzentrum) to find out about other options for learning German quickly and efficiently.
Accommodation service
Our accommodation service will help you to arrange accommodation before you arrive. Firstly, it’s important to note the following: The Student Services (Studentenwerk) are responsible for awarding places in our student accommodation, not FAU. This means you are not automatically granted a place in our student accommodation if you get a university place. Please always apply proactively through our accommodation service! Be prepared for the eventuality that we cannot offer you accommodation. On the private residential market, you can either rent a private apartment or find shared accommodation.

Erlangen is home to a number of international families who have settled in areas preferred by employees of major companies such as Siemens. This contributes to the welcoming and tranquil feel of its neighborhoods. Students and families alike are drawn here due to the sense of familiarity the region provides. The region is surrounded by idyllic, small villages in Franconian Switzerland. You are therefore never far from the traditional Bavarian experience and that homely feeling.
